How the title and hook generator works
Every title here follows a pattern that has already produced high click-through rates on faceless channels - number lists, curiosity gaps, 'signs' and 'after 50' framings. You supply the topic and audience; the generator fills the patterns and counts the characters.
- 1Enter your topic, the audience (who), what they do (verb phrase), the goal they want and a trigger situation.
- 2Read the 12 titles; click any to copy. Keep titles under 60 characters so they are not cut off on mobile.
- 3Pick one of the 5 hooks as the first sentence of your script - say it before the intro, logo or music.
- 4Press Shuffle numbers for new list sizes and variations, then test 2-3 titles in YouTube's A/B test feature.
The patterns and why they work
- Numbered lists ("7 Signs...") set an expectation of structure and keep viewers watching for the last item - the best place for your strongest point.
- Curiosity gaps ("...It's Not What You Think") promise a reveal without giving it away. The thumbnail should tease, the title explain.
- Audience + age framing ("After 50", "Older Men") makes a viewer feel the video is about them, which lifts CTR among 45+ US audiences - the group behind my 1.1M-impression, 7.3% CTR video.
- Negative framing ("Stop Doing This") outperforms positive framing in most self-improvement tests.
Title and thumbnail should never say the same thing
The thumbnail is the emotion and the title is the explanation. If both say "7 signs he likes you", you waste half the space. Put the face and a two-word tease on the thumbnail and the full promise in the title.
Hooks: the first 15 seconds
Retention in the first 15 seconds decides how far YouTube distributes a video. Open with the hook sentence, restate the title as a question, promise the payoff at the end, and only then show a logo or ask for a subscribe. Pair the hook with a mid-video "stay to number 5" line to protect retention.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a YouTube title be?+
Under 60 characters so it is not truncated on mobile and in Suggested. The generator shows the length of every title.
Are these clickbait titles?+
They use curiosity and specificity, but the video must deliver the promise - otherwise retention drops and YouTube stops recommending it. Use them as honest packaging.
Can I use the generator for Shorts or Reels captions?+
Yes. The hooks work as Shorts opening lines and the shorter titles make strong Reels captions.
